'DOC BLANCHARD' part of the legendary WEST POINT backfield of the middle 1940's along with MR. OUTSIDE known as Cadet GLENN DAVIS to DOC FELIX ANTHONY BLANCHARD Jr. known as 'MR. INSIDE' for his bruising between-the-tackles runs - is dead at 84. BLANCHARD, retired as a full colonel never played professional football. While at WEST POINT the CADETS were 46-1-0 - the one tie coming against NOTRE DAME in 1947 in a 0-to-0 game. BLANCHARD was the first junior classmen to win the HEISMAN TROPHY. His nickname 'DOC' derived from his father being a country physician. COL. BLANCHARD served in VIETNAM with several commendations.
