The U.S.D.A. does not 'inspect' all MRS. LOVETT's meat pies?!
'SWEENEY TODD' in its monochromatic cinematography with spurts of blood bright crimson from 'the demon barber's razor' is a visual torment and delight!!! Who knew JOHNNY DEPP could carry a tune with his 'white widow's peak' accented make-up hair or SACHA BARON COHEN could act the fake tonsorial fop??? This film is entertaining - filled with gushings of blood - as well as mordant humour - as we devour Mrs. Lovett's meat savouries(played neurotically/slaternly/DELICIOUSLY by HELENA BONHAM CARTER) while we secretly cheer for the young lovers and cringe at the movie's final denouement. A FINE TREATISE ON WHY VEGETARIANS SHOULD RULE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON!!!
