Thanksgiving at Wolfgang Puck’s Restaurant, Orlando, Florida
A tradition
Outside
On the porch
Serious waitrons
Dressed in au courant black tops & bottoms
For this Thanksgiving Holiday
Serve the lines of eager tourists
Parents with scads of children in tow
Implore proper behavior
As if they were in church
While other creatures
Line-up like orthodox communicants
Wait their turn
Dressed in formal feathers
Avail themselves of opportunities
To snatch hunks of savory bread
And any other delicacies they can pilfer
Florida Starlings hover and flutter
Sometimes immediately on outside tables
During diner’s repastes
While joyous shouts of children
Marvel/greet close-up nature
At this homage to Pilgrim’s ultimate survival
Able to celebrate
A long-ago bleak dietary sense of cuisine
And day of divine thanks.
